The Pfizer Foundation

The Pfizer Foundation’s mission is to help build healthier communities around the world. We invest in community-led partnerships and solutions to address today’s complex global health challenges, respond to urgent health needs, and empower Pfizer colleagues to make an impact where they live, work, and beyond.

Founded in 1953 by Pfizer Inc. as a charitable organization, The Pfizer Foundation is a separate legal entity from Pfizer Inc. with distinct legal restrictions.

All people, regardless of where they live, should have access to safe and effective healthcare. Together with our partners, we’re committed to helping close the health equity gap by investing in locally driven solutions that help improve access to innovative care, strengthen health systems, and reduce vaccine-preventable illness.

Despite advances to improve access to healthcare worldwide, disparities remain. Nearly three in four people living in high-income countries have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine compared to one in three people living in low-income countries.ii The Pfizer Foundation and Amref Health Africa, Africa’s largest non-profit health and development organization, are partnering to help increase COVID-19 vaccine access and strengthen health systems in sub-Saharan Africa.

Globally, millions of women are screened for breast cancer every year. Yet many living in medically underserved communities don’t have access to basic cancer screening and care. With support from Pfizer and The Pfizer Foundation, Partners In Health is delivering critical breast cancer care – helping advance timely and accurate diagnoses – for women in Rural Rwanda.

Responding to Natural Disasters and Resulting Health Crises

As natural disasters and climate emergencies become more frequent and unpredictable, Pfizer and The Pfizer Foundation are collaborating with global health organizations to provide emergency healthcare that helps prevent and treat illness exacerbated by natural disasters. The Pfizer Foundation works with partners to strengthen health capabilities and systems before disasters happen, proactively stockpile supplies and medicines, and respond to urgent health needs.
